Letzte Woche ist unser Onlinekurs "Meaning Making During a Pandemic" gestartet.

Last week our "Meaning Making During a Pandemic" programme started. Together with Abhay Adhikari we want to foster the constant reflection of what we are doing, which digital offers we are currently developing, but also how these can be thought of in a sustainable way, how we want to work and how we as cultural institutions participate in current discussions.

After each episode either Abhay or I will upload a short summary. We will also produce a podcast (produced by Ralph Würschinger) and a comic (designed by Azam Masoumzadeh) for each episode as a summary and insight into our discussions (links below). The weekly comics are produced under great time pressure, which is why mistakes still happen from time to time. At the end we will summarize the comic again and put it online in a revised form.

Hello, this is Abhay. I’m the co-creator of the Meaning Making During A Pandemic programme along with Andrea Geipel. Every week, Andrea and I will present a summary of the session we lead. So let's start with Episode 1: Meaning Making from Wednesday, May 27. In this episode, we discussed how we can present our stories to our communities during a period of transition, change or chaos. Isn’t that what most of us are experiencing right now?

We talked about two techniques to reframe our digital stories: can we change who we’re addressing? An individual, a community or the entire internet? We also discussed the goal of our digital stories, should we seek to engage, inform or entertain our audience? We were also joined by Padma Priya, co-founder of Suno India, India’s fastest growing podcasting platform. Priya explained the importance of developing an authentic relationship with your audience. This relationship is a source of inspiration which allows the team to develop multi-platform initiatives.

You can find a summary of our discussions in this podcast and this comic.

As this is the first post, Andrea and I would like to thank the team who are working behind the scenes on the Meaning Making programme: our digital producer - Jenni Mueller, our evaluation ‘Guru’: Natalie Nelissen, artist-in-residence: Azam Masoumzadeh and podcast producer: Ralph Würschinger. The title music for our podcast is by Joseph McDade.

On June 3, Andrea will lead Episode 2: Well-being.
