The library is intended for anyone interested in the history of science and technology. The Deutsches Museum Library is commited to make the copyright free historical part of its collections available online.
Since 2016, the library of the Deutsches Museum has been cooperating with Google Books to advance the large-scale digitization of the library's copyright-free collection. Google's extensive capacities make it possible to scan almost the library's entire historical holdings, more than 50,000 volumes, in a very manageable amount of time. This includes valuable and rare old books, as well as address books, periodicals and much more. The works can be viewed at Google Books and are also permanently available via Deutsches Museum Digital.
