Description Die astronomische Standuhr mit Kompensationspendel ist mit einem Huygens'schem Schnurantrieb für den Aufzug versehen, der auch als Huygens'scher Aufzug bezeichnet wird. Bei diesem handelt es sich um einen Antrieb mit Gewichten über ein endloses Seil, das den Erhalt einer gleichbleibend hohen Antriebskraft gewährleistet. In die Uhr ist eine englische Ankerhemmung eingebaut worden. Das Zifferblatt ist in 24 Stunden (1-24) eingeteilt, das Sekundenblatt (5-60) ist exzentrisch.
Mahler entwickelte das Pendel mit seiner Kompensation bereits 1819; es stellt eine Variante der Ellicott'schen Kompensationspendel dar. (Quelle: Habinger/Brendel/Petzold 1993)
