Description Das mathematische Gipsmodell stellt eine Schraubenfläche von konstant negativem Krümmungsmaß dar.Die Meridiankurve ist die Traktrix, mit ihrer Asymptote als Schraubachse.
Das Gipsmodell entstammt einer Reihe von mathematischen Modellen, die unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Brill an der TH München modelliert wurden. Die Modelle wurden später als Serie im Verlag Martin Schilling in Halle an der Saale hergestellt.
Das Modell wurde von Peter Vogel (1856–1915) geschaffen, der als Assistent von Professor Brill im Jahr 1880 im Modellierkabinett der TH München studierte, forschte und modellierte.
