Description Die doppeltwirkende Maschine war bis 1944 als erste Betriebsdampfmaschine der chemischen Fabrik F. B. Silbermann, Augsburg, in Betrieb. Die durch den Kreuzkopf und die Kolbenringe exakt geführte Kolbenstange verhindert eine einseitige Abnutzung der Zylinderwandung und des Kolbens. Der Fliehkraftregler wirkt auf die Drosselklappe und steuert somit den Dampfeinlass. Eine Doppelschiebersteuerung, 1842 von Jean J. Meyer erfunden, regelt die Verteilung des Dampfes im Zylinder. Der Doppelschieber wird über Exzenter angetrieben, die auf der Schwungradwelle sitzen.
